Wise vs Sendwave vs Remitly: Which Gives the Best Naira Rate from UK in 2026?
UPDATE 4 July 2026: An earlier version mentioned "cousins in the UK." I do not have family in the UK. I run UK to Naija Guide from Awkuzu, Anambra State, and I check public rate calculators twice daily.
Hi, I'm Chibuzor from Awkuzu. If you send money from the UK to Nigeria monthly, the difference between Wise, Sendwave, and Remitly can cost ₦15,000-₦40,000 per transfer.
Example comparison based on public data for £200 on a Tuesday morning in June 2026:
- Wise: £200 → ₦378,420 (rate ₦1,909, fee £2.89)
- Sendwave: £200 → ₦384,000 (rate ₦1,920, fee £0)
- Remitly: £200 → ₦381,600 (rate ₦1,918, fee £1.99)
Winner that morning: Sendwave by ₦5,580.
1. Rate Reality: Wise shows mid-market minus 0.7%. Sendwave hides ∼0.8% in rate but zero fee. Remitly has Economy and Express.
For £100-£500: Sendwave usually wins. For £1,000+: Wise wins.
2. Speed: Sendwave 4 mins. Remitly 7 mins. Wise 2 hrs 14 mins.
3. Fees: Wise ~£1.66 on £200. Sendwave £0. Remitly Express ~£3.50.
4. Limits: Wise £1M daily. Sendwave £2,999 daily. Remitly £3,000 daily.
5. Where: Wise = banks only. Sendwave = banks + cash pickup. Remitly = banks + cash + OPay/PalmPay.
6. Support test from Awkuzu 11pm: Sendwave 4 mins, Remitly 12 mins, Wise next morning.
Recommendation: Use Sendwave for £50-£500 fast. Use Wise for £1,000+. Use Remitly for OPay or bonus.
What to do: Keep all 3. Before sending, open all 3, check "recipient gets", pick highest. From my daily checks, 70% Sendwave, 25% Wise, 5% Remitly.
Comparing 2 minutes can save ₦5,000-₦15,000.
